"...when the term quantamental emerged I began to use it in this sense and noticed that so did many quant traders. For me, quantamental means finding a trading idea, suggesting a qualitative description for it and then building a quantitative model that reflects this qualitative description..." It is very interesting and intriguing subject, also from the perception of investor standpoint.. in my experience investor want either ALGO (Quant) or Fundamental (Human Traders).... don't like that mixed... .but why ? Perhaps possible deniability - if things go wrong ;) However, for last 10 years I designed ALGO for FX and recently we recorded CalMAR ratio of 10+ in autonomous mode, but when I oversight/ override (further more with the insight of some fantastic newsletter fundamental written by FX grand masters) Cal-mar ratio is 20+ ... one of the skills that are generally acquired during prolonged Research and Development of technology (with real-time trading evaluation) is the knowledge of when certain technique or strategy will or will not perform. Certainly that is beyond fundamental analysis.... perhaps we are on the verge of fundamental of 'Algo-mental' and just one step away from singularity :).... BTW I like the name 'Quantamental' for me its a way to go !
