A Quest for Stock Profits – Part II

From what was presented in A Quest for Stock Profits – Part I, one might conclude that there was very little there of interest. Most of it almost ordinary. Nothing to make a fuss about. On the other hand, it might have been an appetizer, a part one of a two-part series. There is definitely more to the story.

For those interested in the code of this trading strategy, the program used to generate chart #6 is available in the mentioned Quantopian forum.

https://www.quantopian.com/posts/stocks-on-the-move-by-andreas-clenow

Locate my last posted version, clone it, and you are ready to run.

You will get the same answers as in chart #6. From there, you can transform the strategy to your liking.

Hi Aurel, appreciate your input and thank you for taking the time.

You know there is no hype in what was presented. They might be big numbers, but that is what came out. All the simulations were done on Quantopian servers using their database which includes delisted and bankrupted companies. Therefore no survivorship biases.

Trading expenses, commissions, and leveraging fees were accounted for. Bringing the strategy to be tested under realistic conditions.

I would say it would be worth your time to study the strategy since it is freely available and make it do what you want. At least, the examples I have provided do show that one can go quite far.

The strategy is scalable, as was demonstrated, and it is leverageable for those that want to accelerate performance. Hope you find it helpful.
