It' s very advanced math. They must have some own approach above Vol/Moving Avg signals etc..

It is interesting that they have few people with expertise in speech recognition.

Maybe they auto follow few financial news channels, post on net etc...

Rate of returns indicate that they do not keep position long time.

i had a chance to know simons back before all the apparent success. he and a bunch of his students were trying to predict the next day's opening based on today's closing . i was working for a very large fund whose sophistication level was that of nasa compared to simons bottle rocket. maybe 10 years later we were losing some traders who were just not that good all fleeing to work for renaissance.

i remember thinking that won't last long and then stops starting being wiped out in overnight moves. large position catastrophic stops that were well out on the fringe of any reasonable trading ranges. i immediately thought something else was going on and actually if you do allot of research on the man, the company and the board of directors and with close government ties and you too may be like me and still think something is going on.

the government can not account for how many billions of dollars gee wonder where some of it might have gone. m

No details can be found ! It is a black box anyway. Big quant funds have holding period up to several days (their long term strategies) . Market is overcrowded with quant funds that's why holding period is getting smaller and smaller.

Predict opening base on close. It will be one risky move. Things does happen overnight and... Ok You can do some trend example price is lowering intra-day momentum is growing etc... How to change it to 25B and 50% avg profit per year? Medallion is more it is like 20 years of profits it can not be one black box it was many different models and strategies. It must be very successfully evolving from one model to another... 20 years ago we traded totally different then today..
