Hi! I'm sophomore at the University of Illinois, pursuing Bachelors in Computer Science and Mathematics. My interests have always skewed towards Algorithms, Machine Learning and Data Analytics parts of Computer Science. Lately, I've read about the Algorithmic trading industry, and I'm fascinated by how we can apply Computer Science principles to generate such strong Algorithms and Models. As a person would like to build more skills to burgeon in the algorithmic trading industry, what tips and guidance can you guys offer? (Anything from specific skill sets, to some approaches on how and where to start)

I think Mike H-M covers a lot of valuable topics in his books. He does not make it overly easy, but its there. Then again, depends on what you are looking for.. Good intro to quant trading, hence the domain name.. Another good book is: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Algorithmic-High-Frequency-Trading-Mathematics-Finance/dp/1107091144/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467101742&sr=8-1&keywords=cartea+jaimungal and be sure to check out these guys: https://www.packtpub.com/
