1) Black box and hedge funds are not mentioned on the paper. 2) You say that the forecasts were traded live in 2012-2013. Were they? The sum of monthly returns for 2012 is -11.3% and for 2013 -1.01%. 3) The trading environment significantly changes every several years. You use for calibration the period 1982-1997. I am afraid the data before 2008 does not affect much what happens today. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see a continuation of your research. I thought you used kernel estimation but it was neural networks.

Alex: I like the work. Sample period is a challenge: in the sterling chart, includes Black Wednesday. I don't usually comment on papers like this, but happy to discuss on phone any time. Nice work, in an area that may give solid results.
