Any Thoughts on Forex related business models?

I was involved in a prediction trading system for Forex which seemed to work returning about 2% a month but the system owners went their own ways and the system disappeared. I am interested by any business opportunities related to Forex especially off-shore and especially related to trading algorithms, or fund management. I am involved a little in Gibraltar. Has anyone any recommendations or ideas on this subject?

Monthly 5% gain is possible

To answer the queries: Gibraltar was at the time less regulated (not sure now) and fund managers were raising funds of 20M+. The 2% was available for any size of deposit but typically about 10K was used.

There are opportunities with fund management and that is what interests me.

Trevor, are you looking for price takers or price givers models? If the former then unfortunately 2% _every_ month is not realistic long term (as well as any X% _every_ month), regardless of what anyone shows you. If the latter then definitely yes, but you will need to meet a number of quite strict requirements to become a liquidity provider. If you plan to run a fund in Gibraltar then most likely you won't be able to make money making the market, otherwise you would have faced a conflict of interests, so your part will be that of price takers, with all the consequences. Just wanted to warn you against overly optimistic expectations.

Why do you think ,2% for a reducer is not realistic?

I would really like to know

My thoughts that's it is too low

the way I think about it is making 200 pips

that's 10 a day

linearly speaking

doesn't seem much to me but I may be wrong

about Gibraltar I know it is packed with online gambling companies

Zeev, unfortunately it's an illusion — old as world, and nevertheless still occupying minds of many traders. The key word in the whole logical construction here is "a day". Regardless of how much you aim to gain _every_ day, it is unrealistic to achieve. Moreover, it's impossible to plan any particular profit for any time interval — from minutes to years. We can only estimate average returns and their deviation, and make certain suppositions, but no more than that. Of course all the aforesaid is related only to spot or futures trading on the buy side (price takers) with directional systems, but from your question I assume we talk about this domain.

First of all thank you for taking the time to answer

I have to tell you that prop traders I work with

Be that automatic or DSS

For years make over 4% a month linearly

But

We don't do cash fx

Because of the large number of requests I unlocked statistics for observation to: http://www.myfxbook.com/members/szafran/chesta-trade-pamm/1415744. Because it is a PAMM account can not be verified. No problem, I sent in a full statemens on e-mail. Please observe long time. This is just the beginning. Criticism welcome. :)
