Operational Due Diligence Vice President

GIC is one of the world’s largest global investors, with well over US$100 billion of assets in more than 40 countries worldwide. We seek an operational due diligence vice president to join our public markets team in New York.

Public Market Investments

The Public Markets include equities, fixed income, alternative investments and money market instruments.

External Managers Department (EMD)

The External Managers Department seeks to identify and develop relationships with the best breed of global investment managers to benefit GIC at large, and at the same time capturing investment opportunities to outperform our benchmarks.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Investment Services Unit as a Vice President of Operational Due Diligence.

Responsibilities

Direct reporting to the Head of Operational Due Diligence in Singapore and will require close communication with the operational and investment due diligence teams globally, as well as other functions within GIC to provide middle office support to the public market investments.
Conduct and report qualitative assessments of investment manager operations, including ongoing developments and news on external fund managers and their compliance with regulatory standards and industry developments.
Remain relevant with market and regulatory developments in the industry and ensure that the operational due diligence program is in line with industry best practices.
Monitoring external fund managers' compliance with investment limits and guidelines.
Supporting investment team on information needs and maintaining adequate due diligence records.
Lead or assist in ad-hoc corporate / operational projects for the team and/or GIC.
Requirements

College degree from a top-tier university, preferably with a major in finance or accounting with a CPA and/or CFA designation
10-12 years related experience (e.g. operational due diligence, auditing or accounting and back office operations) in Financial Services industry, preferably on alternative and private equity investments. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience of 5 years or more in operational due diligence in the global fund management industry.
Good knowledge of global regulatory and compliance rules and regulations, as well as risk, structures, operational processes / policies / controls and best practice for different alternative strategies and complex financial instruments.
Independent critical thinking, proactive attitude in creating effective solutions for issues, and recommendations to experienced senior professionals. Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation, and both oral and written communication skills.
Good team player who works well with people of all levels, shows commitment and dedication, and can maintain both a positive attitude and high level of performance on time-sensitive initiatives
Must have attention to details, able to multitask and manage multiple due diligence reviews and projects within deadlines
Flexible to travel and work in different time zones with overseas teams and external parties
