Question on maximizing high frequency rebate income

I'm working on a high frequency strategy and was wondering if there was a better execution platform than Interactive Brokers for maximizing rebate income from the ECNs? Thanks . . . .

HFT and retail (IB and the like) don't mix. At the very least, you should be looking at a prop firm where you can use their connectivity/commissions.

I am not in that business, but IB has a few issues that would need to be addressed:

* Trading goes through the IB servers, so it is going to be slow in the HFT world, meaning that you are going to miss trades

* The IB API does not allow you to use specialized order types, which are useful for collecting rebates

* The quote feed from IB is slow, so again you will be behind the other traders in this world.

To sum up, IB is slow compared to other HFT traders and the IB API does not allow you to use specialized order types that you will most likely need. It is not the platform I would use.

Not sure if/how programmable it is, but Lightspeed's platform had a pretty generous rebate program when I used it to daytrade a couple years back...

Some providers offer the option to upload your own code on their servers for quicker execution...

Your available choices are a function of the size of your account. Many prime brokers will pass through the highest rebate even if the trading in your individual account doesn't warrant it.

I never believed I could make money out of Forex. I make money forex trading within short time. I joined forex mentor program a month ago. I've spent so much money on books, trading systems, seminars, and so on but I was still struggle to understand the charts.

For me this is the last chance to spend money on Forex mentor and I was going to claim money back if I don't like it. But I am very pleased to find this service. I love it. I am curious about your question. Is your "Strategy" for trading or for rebate generation? Why would a professional trader, who normally manages money for a percentage of profits, also be wanting to create rebates? If that is the case, then I see your strategy as one that is rift with conflicts of interest. If I have misunderstood your question, please except my apology. If I have not, please explain why there is not a conflict of interest.

@James, I believe that the strategy is to trade where the profits are generated via rebates from the exchanges. In this way you can buy and sell a stock at the same price and still make a profit from the rebate.

Hi Greg: My error. I was under the impression that the strategy was in OTX FX rather than in exchange traded products. Thanks, Jim

This is why Traders stand by HFT cannibalizes liquidity. Not a peep on trading the markets but speed, now rebates for quote stuffing? Face it, this is not trading but scamming the exchanges and I think about HFT being a taker from Society in general. 6 servers can run this Country very profitably but what does it say about the fabric of Society? I have a feeling hft will go through a thinning, big time and soon.

@Alan. The most important question is if HFT algorithms would be able to produce the price environment in which Thechnical Analysis prediction can take place. So what HFT needs is a correction of prices after the execution. HTF algorithms should reastablish the natural price environment an not only destroying it.
