BIS – Committee on the Global Financial System published paper #52 in Nov 2014 titled “Market-making and proprietary trading: industry trends, drivers and policy implications”. The report said, “… there is no conclusive evidence of a widespread rise in trading costs … Yet, liquidity may become increasingly fragile in some market segments … may have raised the probability of an adverse impact of large and self-reinforcing order imbalances on liquidity conditions…” What are your thoughts, and do you see the suggested policy responses being effective to address these development trends? Copy of the report can be downloaded at: http://www.bis.org/publ/cgfs52.pdf
