Very interesting.

I guess at the heart of this there is a fund replication engine (based on something like multiple linear regression)?

Actually, come to think of it, there must be a "bit" more of automated intelligence along the way?

I personally think alpha's on the way out in favor of so-called "smart beta". My portfolio has plenty of ETFs, primarily growth, given my risk tolerance. I don't think I ever had, or will have, an actively managed instrument, outside of something like Berkshire-Hathaway or Blackrock (neither of which I own). If I want to break up my S&P exposure, there's no end of available funds (~1,500 total, IIRC) to diversify and hedge.
