Hi Roman, IG Markets has an easy language to get started with. Check out their website and in particular the Pro Order auto trading functionality. Most of the indicators are pre-coded so you can knit them into a more complex set of criteria quite simply. The programming language is simple, but that has its drawbacks of course, when de-bugging and so on.

Good luck - Royston

I personally use MultiCharts mainly for discretionary trading based on my own proprietary quantitative market analytics. However, MultiCharts has an algorithmic/auto trading function that sends trading orders or your choosing directly to your broker for execution, if this is what you want to achieve. This function can be switched on as soon as you have developed and back tested a robust trading strategy of your liking. However, unattended automatic trading is a risk endeavor. Continuous trade monitoring is a MUST!

I recommend Metatrader brokers because

§ programming languages mql4 and mql5 are close to C and C++

§ huge educated open source community with 1000nds of indis and bots available

§ lots of brokers incl. ECN brokers such as http://www.globalprime.com.au/

§ Low cost operations

of course there are also disadvantages such as

§ no radar screen (like in Tradestation)

§ no orderbook transparancy

§ not suited for hft solutions

I would say that Metatrader is (at least) well suited for prototype development. In many cases it is also well suited for professional solutions incl. managed account copy trade solutions.

In addition I recommend the new platform XTrader

https://www.tradingtechnologies.com/products/trading-analytics/xtrader/

with the new high level language ADL. The platform is very well suited for HFT solutions as well.

Hi Roman,

For maximum flexibility (open source) and affordable low latency check this CEP trading platform which also includes backtesting functionality.

We are beginning to market the platform we use and developed----we're calling it Agora. There is no equal in the market----the sophistication of the system----especially execution--- and the tools we provide are best of market. Please contact me if you would like to discuss.

Fireball FX Algo platform (www.fireballfx.com) could be a good solution for you. You can easily build various strategies on the platform or use the plug-ins for executions. It has a build-in execution engine as well. Connect to any broker.

Robert,

You should consider using a trading and analytics platform because you do not want to start at zero. It is all about your strategies and not about the implementation of order and position management, integration of brokers, etc.. (exclude HFT, in this case it is mandatory ;-)

Best,

Pierre

If your strategies are susceptible to latencies, you may want to look at latency numbers first. If your strategies are heavily dependent on loads of Market data and historical data, you may wanna think about who gives you the beast interface to inject model data to your system.

Sometimes some strategies are achievable using CEP system and i ve not seen such strategies successful and make money yet. All the systems i ve built are on top of specialized hardware and carefully written tailor made software so i might be biased here.

We have some clients simply using MATLAB with excel integration into our trading platform. Others are using TradeStation and Trading Motion which works well.
