We are running an experiment to see if investing “buy-and-hold for one year” in a selection of 12 stocks from the holdings of the iShare USMV ETF can outperform the ETF and S&P500. The selection is based on the ranking system of a weekly trading algorithm on Portfolio123 that was optimized for the S&P 1500 and now applied to the a universe of USMV holdings. To December 29, 2014 our selection from July gained 23.5% and those from October gained 14.1% both outperforming the USMV and SPY ETFs by large margins.
Today the January selection has been published and can be viewed on iMarketSignal.com after registering and logging in.
The July selection was: BBBY, CAH, CVS, DG, EBAY, LMT, LUV , MDT, PCP, ROST, SNPS and TRV. The October selection was: AZO, CAH , DG, DLTR, EBAY, ESRX, LUV, MMM, PCP, PRE, SNPS and Y.
