Man I love that word... MOOC... Hahaha Ok no seriously. For those of you that don't know what a MOOC is, it is a course of study made available over the Internet, often, without charge to a very large number of people. Would any of you please be able to recommend a MOOC to learn more about getting involved in Algo Trading? I recently completed one via Georgia Tech titled: Computational Investing which laid a nice intro to the subject but now i need some more. www.coursera.org/course/compinvesting1 Any recommendations would be appreciated. Kind regards Jacques

But now that I have expanded on my credentials, established that i am looking to learn, and defended myself from accusations like I have no "common sense" and "take books for granted"

Is there someone in the community that can recommend a MOOC?

i was a struggling trader / programmer and i was selling my Volkswagen one day and buying a Ferrari the next day only to wind up riding a bicycle and broke again true story.

i thought i knew something but all i had done was to curve fit some model to recent data conditions. when the market nature changed i didn't and the cycle continued. then i got the opportunity to work for a real trader who made real money consistently with over a twenty year track record.

i finally took the opportunity and it changed my life. you need to be very "extremely" particular where you land. find a shop near you that has such a track record and do anything to get in the door and go up from there.

if you have what it takes you will force them to either make you partner or you will be able to go out on your own. m

Evidence based technical analysis is a good book to start from. The method of research and validation is the most important thing to remember.

You can try Tucker Balch's Computational Investing Part I, or maybe Eric Zivot's course on computational econometrics.
