Does anybody used bloomberg api to create a proprietary trading software? I know you can get quotes and data from their API, but are you able to send buy/sell orders ? Thanks

Just to be sure, I need something terminal-independent... I need to run this custom made software from anywhere without having the terminal on

Is that possible?

Ariel,

Bloomberg is allergic to the term "terminal-independent" (much to the displeasure of many). They make you jump through a lot of hoops when you use their API to _ensure_ that you're using a terminal with their API. It's the same deal even if you are using their Server API. I've never used ESMX without the terminal but I do know that you need to specify the Bloomberg UUID for the trader when you input/modify trades. This would imply that one would need a terminal.

Just use Bloomberg Datalicense + SAPI if you move data off the terminal.
